Citation
- A citation or referencing style is a standardized way of referencing research you use in your academic work
- A citation is when one paper explicitly refers to another paper.
- This has to be indicated in the text of the paper or research project report. The full references is given in the bibliography.
- In academic writing, you must cite all the sources you quote directly, paraphrase, or summarize to:
- Answer your research question
- Defend your arguments using other researchers findings.
- Citing is an assurance of meeting academic integrity standards by acknowledging the efforts of other people that have contributed to your work.
Referencing
- Referencing is to provide a complete citation with full bibliographic information of all sources used in the document at the end of your paper.
- A references list is organized by the author's last name in alphabetic (A-Z) order.
- Follow the 7ed APA referencing style as provided in the APA 7ED QUICK GUIDE.
- E.g. Electronic Journal format:
1.Author(s)., (Year).
2.Title of the article. Note: For works that are part of a greater whole (e.g. articles, chapter), use sentence case. Only the first word of the title and subtitle and proper nouns are capitalized.
3.Title of the Journal, Note: Italicize and capitalize each word in the journal.
4.Volume Note: Italicize the journal volume. If there is no issue, include a comma before the page range.
5.(Issue), Note: If there is a issue number in addition to a volume number, include it in parentheses.
6.Page range.
7.DOI (Digital Object Identifier)
