Library Information and Digital Literacy: Patchwork Writing

GETTING STARTED WITH THE LIBRARY SERVICES AND RESOURCES.

Patchwork Writing

  • Patch work writing is cutting and pasting material without adding anything of  value to the content.
  • A student may change a few sentences around and swap a few words to avoid plagiarism charges, for example, when you change a few words or add synonyms to make the write up appears as your own.
  • Information that is considered to be common knowledge, such as the Independence Day of  Namibia does not need to be cited. Common knowledge is information that's considered widely known or easily verified for e.g. Dr. Hage Geingob is the current President of the Republic of  Namibia.
